Those of you that know me very well know that I am a RABID fan of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball program (to the point that I have their logo tatooed to my left arm). I was born in KY and lived there until I was 15. Some of my fondest memories growing up were of watching the Cats play on television with my Dad while listening to Caywood Ledford (the voice of Kentucky Basketball from 1953 though 1992) call the game over the radio.
Anyway, this time of year is by far my favorite of all the different sporting events. Even in the years that KY doesn’t do well in the tournament, I love watching college basketball and the drive that so many teams have to try to win the national championship.
Last night the Cats didn’t dissapoint. They played a very scrappy Villanova team and played well throughout the entire game. I’m not totally naive enough to think that they can take out #1 seed Kansas on Sunday, which means that this season will likely end tomorrow. But I’m going to continue to enjoy the tournament for the next couple of weeks until we get to the national championship game.
